Hemp oil or popularly known as CBD oil is rich in hemp extracts acquired from cannabis plants. Few people use hemp oil to get relief from pain related to chronic conditions, such as cancer pain or even arthritis. Before diving into how hemp oil is a miraculous option when it comes to pain relief, let us get clear about what CBD or hemp oil is? Well, CBD is a natural chemical found in cannabis plants. It contains several different substances. One of which is called delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), is psychoactive but not CBD. Presence of this psychoactive property is one of the primary reasons why the users feel high. Since a lot of people are using hemp for recreational purposes, there are others who have pushed hemp into the controversy of its close relation to marijuana. Although marijuana and hemp belong to the same plant family, they’re widely different when it comes to their chemical properties and compositions. Due to lack of proper knowledge, maximum people tend to confuse hemp with psychoactive marijuana. Hemp Oil for ArthritisOver time a lot of people suffer from some of the other types of pain. One of the most recurring and the most excruciating is arthritis pain. It is mainly an inflammation and soreness in one or more joints resulting in pain and stiffness that can get worse with age. Well, age is one such factor that would determine the extremity of suffering, and this is the reason why most older people suffer from this kind of pain. With age, the bones start getting weak, and the body puts more pressure on such weak joints. For instances, a seventy-year-old individual would have joint pain started if he walks or stands for more than thirty minutes or more. The natural resistance power of the body drops consistently making the physical bone structure weak and resulting in endless joint pain. Arthritis has become a significant reason for disability in the United States, and it has nearly affected over 50 million Americans. The two most prevalent types of arthritis are: 1) Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) In this type of condition, a person’s immune system attacks their joints, resulting in inflammation. This health condition commonly affects the hands and feet, leading to painful, swollen, and stiff joints. Moreover, this is an autoimmune disease affecting people worldwide. 2) Osteoarthritis (OA) It’s a degenerative disease affecting bones and joint cartilage, causing stiffness and pain. It is seen to affect the knee, hips, and thumb joints. According to the Arthritis Foundation(AF), nearly 54 million adults and 300,000 children in the U.S. are diagnosed with arthritis or other types of rheumatic diseases. For the individuals who have arthritis but haven’t been diagnosed yet, as per AF the actual figure is more likely to hit 91.2 million in total. By the year 2040, the number is expected to rise by 49 percent. Cannabinoids, such as CBD, combine themselves to particular receptors in a user’s brain and immune system. A CB2 receptor plays a significant role in the immune system by managing inflammation and chronic pain. Several studies were carried out on animals every year with different conclusions, but it boiled down to a single idea that CBD oil is best for treating excruciating arthritis pain. Some suggested it reduces inflammatory pain by affecting the way that pain receptors respond to stimuli while other studies indicate, hemp oil could be a safer option to treat Osteoarthritis. CBD has an impact on the CB2 receptors. And it does it not by joining to the CB2 receptor, but by attracting the body to produce its own cannabinoids. This functioning creates a positive effect on the body’s pain and inflammation responses. Manufacturers have rolled out several forms of hemp infused products to ease out the discomfort. Hemp infused creams, balms and lotions are available in the market that allows the users to apply on to the skin of the areas affected by arthritis. Since these ointments do not come in direct contact with the internal organs, it is a safe option for everyday use. Despite endless benefits and raging demand among the millions, the FDA did not officially approve hemp oil for arthritis. However, in June 2018, the FDA approved the use of hemp oil for treating only epilepsy. Even though it’s legal in most of the states of the U.S., you should consider knowing the legal status of hemp in your particular state before using or buying hemp infused products. Majority of people now prefer hemp oil over prescription medications to help ease out the inflammation without experiencing any side effects unlike the ones with regular pain killer medications. Due to its non-psychoactive ingredients CBD oil is safer and a natural approach to lowering the pain levels over time.
